Debbie Ghillino

Chief Happiness Officer

(aka Managing Director)
Debbie has 25 years Incentive industry experience! She’s worked for some of the top Incentive and Performance Improvement companies in South Africa and the UK, and she’s currently Secretary for the MEA Chapter of IMA.

Milestones:

  • Co-founder of the Global non-profit organisation: Women in Incentives Network
  • President of the Global Incentive Council 2013 to 2015 – the first African to have the privilege
  • First African to be in attendance at the Incentive Marketing Summit (IMA) for 5 years
  • Invited to present sessions at three of the IMA Summits on Incentives from a Global Perspective
  • Has written a white paper on Incentives in India
  • Has been published in the Think Sales SA magazine on the right way to run incentives
  • Has been invited to speak on numerous Reward & Incentive panels

What’s the most inspiring part of your job?

Getting to work with a passionate work family who make a difference with what they do.

In another life, I’m pretty sure I was a

pirate.

The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is

hire people who are better than you.

If I could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve

the beach and chocolate.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?

Join us if you want to contribute to a work family who are passionate about what they do and embrace the work life balance.

gush!

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be

speed travel.

What's the most inspiring part of your job?

Hearing how we can actually change someone’s life – like the lady who was able to get her first ever washing machine.

In another life, I'm pretty sure I was a

pilot.

The best piece of advice I've ever been given is

treat others in the way that you expect to be treated yourself.

If I could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve

time to really switch off.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?

You’ve got to really care, want to take responsibility and not accept anything that doesn’t provide fabulous customer service delivery.

marvellous.

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be

calm under pressure.

Catharine Parsons

What's the most inspiring part of your job?

Without a doubt, recognising and bringing happiness to people who go above and beyond their call of duty. What I do is meaningful and positive, and that brings value and joy to my life.

In another life, I'm pretty sure I was a

bear. Eating 40 kilos a day and then sleeping for 7 months sounds like something I might have done. And enjoyed.

The best piece of advice I've ever been given is

that a person’s character is more important than anything else they are.

If I could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve

snow.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?

Have a willing spirit. Skills can be learned, but a good attitude is paramount.

My favourite word in the English language is

petrichor, it describes the beautiful, earthy smell after rain.

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be

LUCK.

Kyle van Niekerk

What's the most inspiring part of your job?

Knowing that people are being acknowledged and rewarded for their exceptional work effort, and that we make it worth their effort.

In another life, I'm pretty sure I was

some sort of Royalty, it may explain my expensive taste!

The best piece of advice I've ever been given is

if it was easy, everyone would do it.

If I could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve

a remote island in crystal blue waters, with an endless supply of treats and cocktails, and where you don’t gain weight eating all the treats!

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?

Be prepared to work exceptionally hard, laugh even harder and love being part of a team that cares!

My favourite word in the English language is

iridescent.

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be

invisibility.

That after processing huge amounts of data, the magic happens, and a deserving person becomes a reward winner.

In another life, I'm pretty sure I was

a Yorkshire Terrier.

The best piece of advice I've ever been given is

everyone’s journey is different.

If I could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve

philanthropy. I would invent Goodwill Day where everybody goes out in their community to help the needy.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help and advice from the other team members, even if you have to ask more than once.

love.

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be

time control.

don’t ask others to do what you are not prepared to do yourself.

What's the most inspiring part of your job?

Working for a boss lady and with colleagues who are passionate about what they do. We take our work seriously but enjoy ourselves while we are at it!

In another life, I'm pretty sure I was

a magpie. I’m drawn to pretty, shiny things but being a wannabe minimalist, I don’t have to have them – just love to marvel.

The best piece of advice I've ever been given is

from my dad who always said that if you can find the joy in the mundane, ordinary, every-day life – you will always be happy.

If I could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve

exploring new (to me) cities and towns, particularly old buildings and soaking up the history – or cruising (pure relaxation).

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?

You better have a sense of humour – we love to laugh a LOT! Also – no room for ego’s – we work together!

My favourite word in the English language is

serendipity. It’s a pretty word, a sweet movie and I believe it – finding TIC was definitely serendipitous for me!

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be

to erase the suffering of little people and animals.

What's the most inspiring part of your job?

Customer Service for sure! Being able to provide our customers with fast service and being proactive. Seeing a smile on my customers’ faces makes me happy.

In another life, I'm pretty sure I was

a cleaner, I seem to enjoy this type of thing. Almost like retail therapy haha. This is my OCD kicking in😊

The best piece of advice I've ever been given is

never allow the cruel world to change you, stay your innocent, gullible, true, down to earth and honest self! Learn and grow from your life experiences but don’t let it change you.

If I could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve

as little planning as possible, just a click of the fingers and you’d be at your desired destination! What better way to treat yourself.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?

I strongly believe you need to have a passion for what you do, your everyday job is where most of your time is spent so make the best out of it.

My favourite word in the English language is

don’t have one but if I had to choose, I think it would be “Life” – Continuously reaching out for newer, richer, deeper, life-changing experiences. Using those experiences as a means for personal growth and pushing the boundaries of myself mentally, spiritually and intellectually for the betterment of myself and the world at large.

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be

to take away all the unnecessary struggles people are facing in today’s society – anxiety, stress, depression, pain, poverty, etc. We all deserve to be HAPPY and I think the world will be a different place if this was the case!
